When you’re gearing up for spring break, you have to make sure you have all the essentials with you. And, one of the main things people forget to factor in is the sun. It’s essential for having the ultimate spring break adventure, but it’s also important to respect it and prepare for it. Being out in the sun for long periods of time could well result in your getting sunburnt.
Now, this isn’t a massive problem in and of itself (though you should try to avoid it), but it can be quite painful. Although, having said that, if it becomes a recurring thing, then it increases your chances of developing skin cancer. So, as a unique and original spring break guide, we are going to suggest ways in which you can combat sunburn during spring break. These are all awesome techniques that have been championed by skincare experts.
Mix coconut oil with your sunscreen
Putting on sunscreen is an important part of combating sunburn when you’re on vacation. But, by adding coconut oil to it, you’ll be well protected. Coconut oil is one of the most amazing things in the natural world, because of the fact that it’s so versatile. And, the fact it protects your burns, stops you burning further and helps give you a tan makes it an essential.
Hydration
We don’t just mean drinking water, though this is important too, of course. What we really mean is to keep the burn areas properly hydrated. This means moisturizing the burn and ensuring the skin doesn’t dry out too much. There are plenty of great products you can get for this, though we would recommend Osea Minerals Mist as the perfect travel companion.

Use a cold compress
The best way of combating your burned areas is to keep them cool as much as you can. Yes, taking a cold shower, or going for a cool swim will help. But none of these beats a cold compress you can apply to your skin over the course of the day. Do this for periods of 10 minutes at a time over the course of the day, and see how much this improves things.
Use turmeric
Okay, so you might only be familiar with turmeric when you’re looking at making curry, but it can be the key to helping your burns as well. It actually has an extremely high level of the anti-inflammatory known as curcumin. By taking turmeric each day, you ensure that you battle the inflammation before it spreads and becomes a problem.
Oatmeal bath
Okay, it might not be that easy to come by one, but, if you get the chance, you need to make sure you soak in an oatmeal bath. This is a tried and tested way of ensuring that you deal with sunburn and combat irritation. Soaking in an oatmeal bath will have a hugely positive effect on your body and burns.
Pick the right sunscreen
There are so many different types of sunscreen, and what you need to do is make sure you choose the right type for whatever your skin type is. If you have very fair skin and burn easily, you’ll need one with a much higher protection rating. The SPF levels are key when choosing the right sunscreen for you.

Massage your skin with serum
Another less common method is to make sure you massage your skin with serum and do as much as possible to use these. They are an excellent way of nourishing your skin and helping to keep it looked after. It’s important that you do as much as possible to keep the skin treated and nourished where you can, and that’s why serums are so important.
There are loads of things you can do that will help you treat sunburns during spring break. We all know how unpleasant it can be to have a really sore and strong sunburn, and you don’t want this to ruin your experiences. That’s why it’s important to make sure you use as many techniques as possible to help treat sunburns.
